The largest published collection of Robert Doisneau‘s classic images was recently released. Included in the massive, 540-page book are quotes from Doisneau, and a preface written by Doisneau’s daughters, Francine Deroudille and Annette Doisneau. To create the book, author Jean Claude Gautrand, a long-time friend of Doisneau, was granted unlimited access to Atelier Robert Doisneau‘s archives.
“A summation of a spectacular career, this is the most extensive Doisneau collection ever published,” says the publisher, Taschen, in a statement. The book includes “all his best loved images alongside many lesser-known compositions which equally rejoice in ‘the ordinary gestures of ordinary people in ordinary situations.'”
