Planets in a Pan

In their series “Pan Planets,” Matteo Gallinelli & Giuliano Antonio Lo Re’s created celestial bodies out of materials like water, ink and dust, which were all combined in a pan. To get a behind-the-scenes look how the six planets were created, check out their project here. For all of you space nerds out there, keep an eye out for the annual Perseid meteor shower, more commonly known as shooting stars, later this week (peak evenings are August 11 and 12). “Some 10 to 40 tons of material invisible meteoric dust enters the atmosphere from interplanetary space every day,” NASA said in a statement.
