The Moods of Summer

“Summertime Salon,” Robin Rice Gallery’s show inspired by the beach, the ocean and the relaxed feeling of the season, opens today at the New York City gallery and runs until September 10. Including work by more than 50 photographers and gallery artists, the show ranges from dreamy and surreal images, such as Sarah Hadley’s fairytale-like view of bare legs in clover and David Saxe’s mysterious shadow of a horse, to fashion-driven photographs such as Todd Burris’s wide-hatted lady on the beach and Luciana Pampalone’s glamorous picture of a woman in angora holding a vintage Graflex. Together, the images in the annual show—which Rice calls her favorite—explore the various moods of summer, from light to dark.
