PDN Photo of the Day

Look Again

After last year’s hiatus, the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph returns to Charlottesville, Virginia, and photo editor Kathy Ryan of The New York Times Magazine and photographer/curator Scott Thode are returning as guest curators. The photographers selected to exhibit in downtown Charlottesville and give talks during the four-day festival include Zanele Muholi, who has exhibited her work on the lesbian, gay and transgender communities in South Africa, and Monica Haller, who collaborates on book-making projects with veterans, their families and others affected by the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Larry Fink, Walter Iooss, David Alan Harvey, Alec Soth and Vincent J. Musi are among the other photographers presenting work. Piotr Naskrecki, a photographer and entomologist at Harvard University’s Museum of Comparative Zoology, will be this year’s “Trees” photographer, exhibiting his images of insects in the trees along Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall.

In addition to the eight artists’ presentations, there will be projections on Friday and Saturday night. Passes to LOOK3 range in price from $135 for general admission to $495 for preferred seating at the talks and presentations, as well as invitations to the artists’ reception and the grand finale. A limited number of student passes are also available.
