Do not adjust your monitor. These images by Michael Schnabel show the mountains and lakes of the Alps shrouded in darkness. Schnabel shot the series, titled “Stille Berge” (German for “still mountains”), using one-hour exposures as a way to explore photography without lights and capture a tranquility not often found in the busy Alpine region during the day. An accomplished advertising photographer, Schnabel has also exhibited in museums and galleries. His photos, including many from “Stille Berge,” are currently on view at Galerie Photonet in Wiesbaden, Germany through April 27. Later this month he will have a solo show  at Galerie Esther Woerdehoff in Paris.
