For The New York Times, Hilary Swift has documented wild horses in Oklahoma and tattoos memorializing the Orlando nightclub shooting. Her first solo show, “Time In-Between” focuses on subjects closer to home, in portraits and found moments in New York City. Opening June 22 at The Quin in New York City, the show includes iconic subjects ranging from Central Park, where Swift catches a creeping gang of raccoons, to the boardwalk at Coney Island, where she photographs a lone woman at twilight. Made between assignments, the images are a sensitive collective portrait of the city. Says Swift in a statement, “The photographs I’m most drawn to find a way to create empathy and understanding. Images communicate with people in ways that words and speeches can’t. They provide proof where doubt can lay and preserve memory when we start to forget.”
