PDN Photo of the Day

A Giant Birthday

Ten years ago, Jen Jenkins founded Giant Artists, after a career in the music industry. To celebrate the anniversary, the LA agency is organizing a show of photography, print and video work from 15 artists on their roster, presented as part of MOPLA and curated by Sabrina Bajaj. Among the images are smoldering landscapes from David Black and João Canziani, cute kids from Collin Erie and Ryan Schude, and observations of everyday life from Iceland to California, in Emily Shur’s Nordic clothesline or RJ Shaughnessy’s flower-stuffed convertible. There are Justin Fantl abstractions and Lauren Dukoff cowboys. The show, on view at Contact Photo Lab, opens April 30. According to the show’s statement, it includes “both personal and unexpected works that demonstrate the distinctions between each artist’s individual practices. Brought together by a sense of color and the way light interacts with space, these works generate a vibrant aesthetic.”
