“Hong Kong Waters,” a multimedia project by German artist Andreas Müller-Pohle, is just one of the many works in his retrospective exhibition, “Coincidences: A Select Retrospective,” at Prague City Gallery, House of Photography. This project combines Hong Kong cityscapes with images of its waterways. The “half/half underwater technique” used in “Hong Kong Waters,” was first used in Müller-Pohle’s “Danube River Project” (2005/2006), also included in the retrospective, and also published by both Kehrer Verlag and Asia One Books. According to exhibition curator Pavel Vančát, Müller-Pohle’s “oeuvre follows a well thought-out and logical path from classic photography to complicated system phenomena.” “Coincidences” includes 17 series and projects stretching across his forty-year career.
“Coincidences” will be on view at the Prague City Gallery, House of Photography, in Prague through October 26, 2014. Müller-Pohle also publishes European Photography, an independent biannual art magazine.
