Varying Landscapes

Paul Wakefield, born in 1949 in Hong Kong, has spent his photography career showcasing beautiful, untouched, landscapes from all over the world. His new hardcover book, The Landscape [Envisage Books, June 2014], includes 80 color illustrations, depicting a variety of terrain – shorelines, rock formations, drylands, woodlands, and snowscapes. The images, shot with a large format sheet film camera, are organized by color scheme and region. In a press release, the publisher says, “inspired in his first year at art college by the work of Casper David Friedrich, [Wakefield’s] photographs show an integrity of work that capture extraordinary landscapes ‘devoid of our meddling.'”
