Adrian & Gidi, aka Adrian Woods & Gidi van Maarseveen, are a young photography duo based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Each has a specialty in their creative process: Woods focuses on photography, while van Maarseveen handles the set design and styling, occasionally enlisting the help of one or two interns or assistants for larger jobs. When creating concepts, the duo brainstorm, and present the client with a PDF that includes a written concept, sketches and moodboards. One of their carefully crafted images can sometimes take a few days from start to finish. Their client list includes KLM, Air France, Cosmopolitan, CODE, Specsavers, FOAM, and Elle, who commissioned these images within the last three years for various issues.

“We sometimes look at our past work as a reference, but pretty much always start with fresh ideas for Elle,” Adrian & Gidi told PDN via email. “We’ll decide on a few themes together with with the beauty and photo editors, then take off from there. Shortly after we graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, we won an Elle photography award. That helped start the relationship, and we’ve been shooting with them ever since.”
