Film Noir: 100 All-Time Favorites

“Enter a world populated by private eyes, gangsters, psychopaths and femmes fatales, where deception, lust and betrayal run rampant,” says Taschen about their soon-to-be-released 688 page book, Film Noir: 100 All-Time Favorites. The publisher says it’s the “first film-by-film photography book on film noir and neo-noir,” and covers early examples of German and French silent films; classics like Double Indemnity, The Postman Always Rings Twice and Vertigo; through more recent films like Pulp Fiction, Heat and Drive. All elements of the films are included: posters, stills, details about the cast and crew, quotes from the film and excerpts from critics and film analyses. Taxi Driver and film noir scholar Paul Schrader wrote the introduction to this “feast of noir worship.”
