Janice Lipzin is the director of visual arts and education at ArtsQuest, a nonprofit organization in Bethlehem, PA, which provides Lehigh Valley residents with a variety of artistic, educational and cultural experiences, such as the InVision Photo Festival that Lipzin created in 2011. “Since InVision, people have become aware that photography is my passion,” Lipzin said in a November 2013 article about her work. According to the article, Lipzin was motivated to pursue her solo photography show, “Growing Up—Miami Beach to the Big Apple,” while observing her daughter’s interest in iPhone photography. “My daughter didn’t know this side of me. It became clear to me that I wanted her to know how important photography was to her mother.” “Growing Up” is a collection of 40 photographs, many of them were shot while Lipzin lived in Miami, “before the new chic Miami was built,” Lipzin said.
“Growing Up—Miami Beach to the Big Apple” is on view through December 13, 2013 in Communications Hall Gallery at Northampton Community College.
