Rising Waters: Photographs of Hurricane Sandy (8 Photos)

Rising Waters: Photographs of Sandy,” an exhibition of over 200 photographs taken in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan and New Jersey, opens this evening at the Museum of the City of New York. The images capture the storm, damage and the aftermath from 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, the most destructive storm to ever hit the region. “Culled from over 10,000 images sent by both professional photographers and New Yorkers who caught astonishing moments on their cell phones, many shots will make viewers feel that the photographer, in fact, should not have paused to take the picture,” the museum said in a statement.

“Rising Waters” will be on view through March 2, 2014 at the Museum of the City of New York.
