Vietnam: The Real War

Vietnam: The Real War: A Photographic History from the Associated Press” opens October 24th at the Steven Kasher Gallery in New York City. The exhibition includes 60 images from more than 25 photographers, all of whom covered the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 1970s for the Saigon bureau of the Associated Press. The bureau “gathered an extraordinary group of superb photojournalists, creating one of the great photographic legacies of the twentieth century,” the Steve Kasher Gallery said in a statement.

The book by the same name was released earlier this month by Abrams and features more than 50 journalists, including Eddie Adams, Horst Faas, Henri Huet, and Nick Ut. “Across the years of the war in Vietnam, the AP photographers saw more combat than any general,” Pete Hamill writes in the book’s introduction. “This book shows how good they were.”
