As relationships progress, people can develop certain similarities to their partner, much like a dog and it’s owner. The same thing happens to bicyclists and their bikes, especially those with a deep, committed love for bicycling, so much so that their whole identity is centered around their bike.
In his series “One Is All You Need: Portraits of New York’s Fixie Riders”, New York based-photographer Dirk Anschütz depicts some of the riders at the forefront of the city’s bike renaissance. Eight of these images will be displayed as large scale prints at Photoville, a Brooklyn-based photo destination, a pop-up village of freight containers transformed into temporary exhibition spaces. Photoville will also host lectures, hands-on workshops, night-time projections, a photo dog-run, a camera-flower greenhouse, and a beer-garden with food trucks.
Photoville begins this Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 4pm and runs through Sunday, September 29. Photoville will be closed Monday, September 23 through Wednesday, September 25.
