San Francisco-based rock ‘n’ roll photographer Jay Blakesberg will release the best of his live concert photography, selected from over 30,000 photos, in a new book. “JAM: Photographs by Jay Blakesberg” will be released in October 2013 thanks to a successful Kickstarter fundraising campaign. Blakesberg’s had an extensive career photographing bands such as The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Flaming Lips, to name a few. His photographs capture not only the energy of the artists onstage but also that of the audience. Blakesberg’s photos have appeared on numerous album covers and in publications such as Rolling Stone and Guitar Player. JAM is Blakesberg’ seventh book of rock photography. Other titles include Between the Dark and Light: The Grateful Dead Photography of Jay Blakesberg (Backbeat Books, 2002), To Defy the Laws of Tradition: A Photographic Archive of Primus & Les Claypool (Prawn Song Publishing, 2003) and Traveling On A High Frequency: Photographs 1978-2008 (Rock Out Books, 2008).
