PDN Photo of the Day

Don’t Fence Me In (5 Photos)

Photographers of all levels submitted their best image series that captured the essence of “community.” Winners will see their work on the 1000ft long photographic installation displayed in Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York City and, new this year, in a special curated version of THE FENCE displayed along the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston. THE FENCE is an annual summer-long outdoor photo exhibition thanks to United Photo Industries, Photo District News (PDN), Brooklyn Bridge Park and Flash Forward Festival.

The unveiling of THE FENCE 2013 happens tonight, Tuesday, June 18, at 6pm. The event is free and open to the public.

  1. Adorable little girl. It should be titled “Rich Girls” as there is $100,000 of truck and trailer in the photo, not to mention the cost of the horses. The wealthy can play cowboy…unfortunately, cowboys can’t play wealthy.

  2. @sage There may be $100,000 worth of truck and trailer in the image, but when you are on a working ranch, that is how it goes. You can certainly make a lot of money off rodeos, and when you are raising cattle, or sheep or whatever else, you need to sell them so you also go to the fairs. A lot of the kids in cattle areas are part of 4H clubs, and are hand-raising animals to show at these fairs. That girl’s parents may have money, but just by the looks of her boots and jeans, she has been raised to work her ass off for it.
