Interested in the ideals of female beauty, Pinar Yolacan says that her series Like a Stone is inspired by pre-neolithic Mother Goddess statuettes. “The pre neolithic figurines are symbolic of fertility goddesses and the female as the life giver. However, today’s perception of the female body has changed. This is a subject matter I am interested in,” Yolacan explains.

“For this project, I worked with females who were BBW’s (Big Beautiful Women) and SSBBW’s. (Super Sized Big Beautiful Women). These are terms used in the adult entertainment industry standing for big, voluptuous, curvy women. I did the castings through online ad’s, Facebook community groups and also through contacting various internet sites, especially those who service the BBW community.”

This evening, the Camera Club is hosting a lecture with Pinar Yolaçan at the School of Visual Arts Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd Floor (between 2nd & 3rd Avenues)
