PDN Photo of the Day

The Cult of Celebrity

Images of celebrities of the 19th and 20th centuries, photographed by Mathew Brady, Man Ray, Andy Warhol, Marie Cosindas and others grace the walls at The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles in its exhibit, “Portraits of Renown: Photography and the Cult of Celebrity.” Arranged chronologically from 1830 to 2000, the exhibition shows how the technical and stylistic evolution of photography has helped shape conceptions of celebrity over a period of more than 150 years. Lectures, films and other events will supplement the exhibition, which runs through August 26, 2012.
