Palm-oil plantations have replaced over 90 percent of Borneo’s ancient forests. This has displaced our closest relative, the orangutan, which is close to extinction. Here, baby orangutans from the Nyaru Menteng orangutan sanctuary in central Kalimantan, Borneo, trek back to the nursery in wheelbarrows accompanied by their babysitters, after a day learning how to survive in the forest without their real mothers.
